FAQS · OSTEOPATHY IN ROMSEY & THE MACEDON RANGES

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers

Everything you need to know before your first visit — from what to expect, to costs, health fund rebates, and how osteopathy can help.

Before You Book

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy focused on how your muscles, joints and nervous system work together. Osteopaths are university-trained, AHPRA-registered health professionals who use hands-on assessment and treatment — alongside exercise and practical advice — to help manage pain and improve movement.

No — you can book directly with us. The only exceptions are Medicare (CDM) plans, TAC, WorkCover and DVA claims, which need a referral or approval first.

All three are registered health professionals who treat musculoskeletal problems — the overlap is bigger than the differences. Broadly, osteopaths tend to combine hands-on treatment of muscles and joints with a whole-body approach and longer appointment times. The best fit often comes down to the individual practitioner. If you’re unsure whether we’re right for your problem, call us

Most treatment is comfortable, and some of it is genuinely relaxing. Some techniques can feel firm, and it’s common to feel a little tender for a day or so afterwards — similar to after exercise. We check in throughout your treatment and adjust pressure to your comfort; nothing happens without your okay.

Your Appointment

A proper conversation about your history and symptoms, a physical assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and a clear plan — all in a 45 minute initial consultation. We’ve written up the whole process step by step. See what to expect →

Comfortable clothing you can move in. Depending on what we’re assessing, we may ask you to change into shorts or a singlet — and we’re always happy to provide a robe or gown if you’d prefer.

It genuinely depends — on the problem, how long you’ve had it, and your goals. After your first assessment we’ll give you an honest estimate and a plan, and we’ll reassess as you go. We aim to get you well and independent, not booked in forever.

Costs & Claims

Initial consultations are $115 and return visits $95. Most extras cover includes osteopathy, and with HICAPS on-site you claim eligible rebates on the spot and just pay the gap.

We ask for at least 6 hours’ notice so we can offer your time to someone else. Missed appointments without notice may be charged the full fee — but life happens, so if something’s come up, just call us.
