Shoulder Pain Treatment in Romsey

From a shoulder that aches reaching overhead to one that has slowly stiffened over months, we assess and treat shoulder pain for people across the Macedon Ranges.

When Your Shoulder Won’t Cooperate

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, which also makes it one of the easiest to aggravate. We commonly see shoulder pain from overhead work, lifting and carrying, throwing and racquet sports, swimming, gym training, long hours at a desk and sleeping on one side. Typical presentations include pain lifting the arm, rotator cuff irritation, a stiff or “frozen” shoulder, and pain that spreads down the arm or up into the neck.

We assess the shoulder itself and the areas that work with it — the neck, upper back and shoulder blade — because how these move together often shapes how the shoulder feels.

How We Help

Treatment typically combines hands-on techniques — soft tissue work, joint mobilisation and, where appropriate, dry needling — with a graded exercise program to rebuild strength and range of movement. We’ll also talk through changes to work, training and sleep so the shoulder isn’t being re-aggravated between appointments. If imaging or a medical opinion would help, we’ll tell you and help arrange a referral.

A Note on When to Seek Medical Care

Shoulder pain after a fall or significant injury, a shoulder that looks out of shape or that you can’t lift at all, or pain with fever, a hot swollen joint or unexplained weight loss should be reviewed by a doctor promptly. Shoulder or arm pain together with chest pain, shortness of breath or sweating can be a sign of a heart problem — call 000. If we identify anything at your appointment that needs medical attention, we’ll tell you directly and help arrange it.

Your First Appointment

Your initial consultation runs 45 minutes: a full history, physical assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and a plain-language explanation of what we found and what we recommend. No referral needed, and health fund rebates are claimable on the spot through HICAPS.

Common Questions

No. Most shoulder problems can be assessed clinically. If we think imaging would change how your shoulder is managed, we’ll explain why and help arrange it through your GP.

Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a condition where the shoulder becomes progressively painful and stiff, usually over many months. We can assess whether your symptoms fit that picture, help you manage pain and keep moving, and work alongside your GP if other treatment is needed.

Sometimes. Pain felt around the shoulder can be referred from the neck, so we check the neck as part of your assessment. More about neck pain →
